*BCully got my 3k pageview, and his request was Mario/Sonic having troubles in a crossover into the others territory. Actually he asked for both, but that would be two pictures! Don't be greedy! Heheh.

Here's the result. Poor old Mario, he jumps like a trooper but that pudgy frame ain't so good at some things. (Arguments about times he clearly runs fast in the games will be blatantly ignored! Ahahaha!)

Mario is copyright Nintendo.
Emerald Hill Zone is copyright Sega, who have sensibly decided to stick to making games, not consoles.

Best picture EVAR!!!!!... I wasn't even expecting anything as funny as this (not that I didn't doubt you), and wow.. so quick too :D Remind me to stalk your pageviews more often :D

I love the scrape marks on the flyover... really adds to the picture... and the background really completes this :D

Since it's your request, I'm particularly glad that you like this piece! Yep, it's the details that make this one - the footmarks are me stepping into slightly more picture-involved humour, not just a place to put the text.

Glad you like the background. I spent a bit of time on it, motivated by my "No white backgrounds" rule. Definitely worth the effort, and I learned a bit in the process.

The backgrounds definitely pay off... which worries me because I spend so long on any drawings I do that any background would take ages... well... I'm gonna do boring drawings first, then add some backgrounds when I get a little better.. Now that I'm moved into my new house, I should be able to get some done... hopefully :/

I used to feel that way as well - that backgrounds take time and aren't really what you want to draw anyway. The thing is, extra time invested in the picture in any respect pays off. You aren't just trying to finish a piece, but make a piece that others will be happy to spend time looking at.

It can be difficult to force yourself to spend even more time when you know you could finish where you are. But the results are worth it!
